Close Enough Colony
You have a small patch of meadow, a handful of critters, and a lot of fog.
Put your critters to work and they carry food home by themselves. Send scouts into the fog to find new land. Build Burrows to make room for more critters. Then close the tab.
The scarecrow is your foreman, and it has been watching. Every time you put a critter on a pond, or send scouts out, it learns a little more about what kind of person you are. When you are away it runs the colony using what it learned. It gets some calls right. It gets some wrong, in ways that are very specific to you. Come back and it tells you how it went.
A cozy idle game with no fail state. Nothing here punishes you for leaving.
- Adopt critters: puddle ducks, pond frogs, barn cats, fence crows, garden gnomes, moss turtles, bossy bantams and lost goats. Two fit on a plot, and each earns most on the kind of plot it likes.
- Meadows, ponds, springs, trails and groves each grow something different to eat. Rocky ground can be cleared with acorns.
- Scout in eight directions. Every trip finds new land and brings back acorns.
- Build Burrows, Storehouses, Workshops, Watch Posts and Scarecrow Posts.
- Train a whole kind of critter to earn double.
- Leave it for 15 minutes or more. The colony keeps working, even in a hidden tab, and the foreman gives you a report when you come back (a shorter break just gets a one-line note). The colony counts up to 12 hours away, and Storehouses add more.
- A short guided tutorial, which you can skip and replay from the menu.
Controls: the mouse does everything. C critters, S scouts, F foreman, Esc for the menu.
Your save lives in your browser. It saves every half minute, and when you adopt, build, train or send scouts. Clearing site data or playing in a private window will lose it.
